Never heard of FTP? Read on to learn why you'll
love it when doing Microstock!
FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, is a way of sending files from a to b.
Concerning Microstock sites, you'll get an account which you enter in your FTP
program and which will save you a lot of time in the future!
With FTP you don't need to use the awkward upload functions on the Microstock
sites which only offer to upload a few images. You can upload as many images as
you like. Simultaneously.
Also FTP is a lot faster than the conventional web upload.
Even modern java and flash uploaders suck against a normal ftp program!
Once your images have completed uploading to the FTP
server, you can edit them on the site, just like if you've uploaded them with
the web interface.
Of course your IPTC datas will also be delivered by
transferring your media via FTP.
Here is my recommendation for Mac users, a little
donationsware program which really does its job great:
Cyberduck (Mac,
I use this one, and I love it!)
For windows user: FileZilla is a cross-platform graphical FTP, FTPS and SFTP client a lot of features, supporting Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and more.
And you can find a good list with many
freeware FTP programs right here!
